PML-N to oppose accountability bill in NA: Shahbaz Sharif

Punjab chief minister say bill aims at protecting “thieves”.

OKARA:
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) will oppose the National Accountability Commission Bill in the National Assembly, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday.

Sharif further said that the bill aims at protecting “thieves”.

Earlier, opposition leader in the parliament Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that the PML-N “strongly opposes” the new accountability bill and called on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Awami National Party (ANP) to support PML-N’s stance.


Bill

The bill states that cases older than 10 years will not be reopened.

It adds that no one will have immunity in any case, be it the president, prime minister, governor, speaker, auditor general, attorney general or retired officers of the armed forces.
