Religious obligation: Sacrificial animal prices soar

Traders expressed the hope that sales will gain momentum in the coming days.

ISLAMABAD:
The prices of sacrificial animals are likely to witness an upsurge this year compared to the last owing to an increase in transportation charges and other associated expenses. Traders have started to bring animals in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, herding in the streets to attract customers even though Eidul Azha is two weeks away.  The sellers demand high prices for the animals while customers are ready to pay their desired prices. Traders expressed the hope that sales will gain momentum in the coming days as twin cities’ residents, who have difficulties in keeping the animals in their yards, will start visiting the markets.
