Healthy cause: DCO seeks ulema’s help in polio drive

"More than 6,000 workers would participate in the campaign," says DCO Noorul Amin Mengal.

LAHORE:
District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal on Thursday urged religious scholars to play their role in a three-day polio immunisation campaign starting from October 15. Addressing prayer leaders from various sects, pastors and United Nations Children’s Fund representatives at the Town Hall, Mengal said that more than 1.5 million children under five years of age would be vaccinated in the district in the three-day drive. He said that more than 6,000 workers would participate in the campaign. He urged the congregation leaders to mention polio drops in Friday sermons and advise people to get children aged under five vaccinated. He said Pushto-speaking students would accompany polio teams in some areas of the city.
