Unfulfilled promises: Farmers protest against water logging
Farmers passed a resolution demanding lining of canal and ensuring that water in canal not exceed approved 500 cusecs.

Hundreds of farmers took out a protest on Wednesday to demand a remedy for water-logging of their farmlands due to the Trimmu-Sidhnai Link Canal. The farmers came from Kabirwala, Shorkot and Kamalia. The rally was led by Pakistan Muslim Leage-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq. The participants chanted slogans against the government and demanded immediate measures to save their lands and compensation for damages. They also passed a resolution demanding lining of the canal and ensuring that water in the canal not exceed the approved 500 cusecs. They also demanded that land be allotted to dozens of landless growers of the villages in Primahal as promised by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in 1998.
