KARACHI:
PQA fast-bowlers helped their side earn a precious 38-run first-inning lead against SBP on day two of their President’s Trophy match here at the National Stadium, Karachi.

PQA, who were rewarded with three points due to the first-innings lead, were earlier bowled out for 218 in 92.4 overs after resuming the day on 203 for eight. Hasan Mehmood took four wickets, while off-spinner Adnan Rasool bagged three but ended up with a sore shoulder after bowling 37 overs on the trot on the opening day.

In reply, SBP were all out for 180 in 45.4 overs as Gulraiz Sadaf top-scored with 50. Abdur Rauf, who bowled 15 no-balls, was the chief destroyer with four wickets, while Muhammad Talha leaked 74 runs in less than 12 overs but was able to claim three scalps. However, it was the burst from Tanvir Ahmed that turned the tide in favour of PQA as he also took three wickets.

At stumps, PQA were 45 for two in 12 overs in their second-innings.

In another match, Aizaz Cheema and leg-spinner Akhtar Kayani got three wickets each to give PIA a 89-run first-innings lead against UBL, who were bundled out for 125 in reply to 214. PIA then took their overall lead to 189 as they reached 110 for four with Agha Sabir scoring 57 and skipper Kamran Sajid not out on 39.
