PFDC Bridal Week: Red carpet moments

Fashionistas usually pull experiment with their looks for fashion week, there was much less flare this time.

LAHORE: While all eyes are fixed on the ramp to catch the latest runway trends, it is hard not to miss what’s happening on the red carpet and front row.

While fashionistas usually pull out the big guns and experiment with their look for fashion week, PFDC L’oreal Paris Bridal Week saw much less flare. There were just a few well-dressed guests in the crowd. While certain trends that have been done to death were flaunted with pride, there was some refreshingly welcome experimentation. Here is a round-up of what we saw:

Printed pants

Printed bottoms have graced and exited red carpet events internationally for some time now but as trends take a little time to settle in Pakistan, printed pants were ablaze on the red carpet last weekend. Usually paired with a solid coloured blouse or tunic, this trend stayed afloat and was mostly pulled off well.

Coloured bottoms

Whilst we saw printed pants peppered throughout the audience, solid coloured pants and palazzos were also very much in vogue on the red carpet. While red was the main colour of choice, some tones of orange, blue and green were spotted throughout the four days.

Chunky neck pieces

This season, adorning the neck with a big necklace has been all the rave. While Meesha Shafi’s Alexander McQueen necklace stood out on the front row, many others followed her lead and used neck pieces as the main accessory.

Tunics

Older women were still dressed in the tunic like kurtas embellished with broaches. Even though this trend seems to have been overdone, it is still going strong as far as public appeal goes and there seems to be no stopping it.

Column dresses

The front row saw some really interesting column dresses. The longer silhouette is not only flattering but also appropriate for red carpet events in Pakistan. While Arshy Ahmad sported HSY, Meher Tareen and Shehrbano wore column dresses by Misha Lakhani.
