PESHAWAR:

In what can be termed as growing distance between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), two mainstream religious parties, the latter has awarded National Assembly ticket for NA 26 currently occupied by the JUI-F chief, to its provincial chief Professor Ibrahim Khan.

The JUI-F chief has contested elections from NA 26 Bannu and won, after losing elections in his hometown Dera Ismail Khan.

JI spokesperson Israrullah Advocate told The Express Tribune that JI has awarded this ticket to the Professor Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, who is currently heading his party provincial chapter.

Israr said that his party has finalised about 95 per cent of its candidates for the national and provincial and FATA.

Apparently, southern KP is going to be another contesting ground between two religious parties.
