Football: HBL maintain winning run in PPFL
Slim 1-0 win over Athletico follows shock defeat of WAPDA.
KARACHI:
Following a shock win over Wapda last week, HBL continued their winning momentum and registered their second win of the season - a 1-0 defeat of PMC Athletico in the Pakistan Premier Football League match yesterday.
HBL, who have drawn six matches in the league so far, managed a late winner when Zakir Lashari found the net in the 88th minute. Despite the win, they remain 11th in the table with 10 while Athletico site 14th place with six points.
Meanwhile, Army defeated Baloch FC 2-0 in Rawalpindi courtesy Ansar Abbas’s brace. With the win, Army replaced PIA in seventh with 15 points while Baloch FC are 13th.
Four-time national champions Wapda were held to a 1-1 draw by KPT 1-1 in Lahore. Wapda stay fifth with 16 points while KPT are eighth with 15 points.
