LAHORE:
The University of Sargodha has set a new disciplinary “records” for public universities in Pakistan as it is held all its exams on time and not suffered any sort of class boycott or strike in the last five years, said Sargodha University VC Prof Akram on Sunday. Chaudhry said that since he had been appointed VC in 2007, he had sought to improve research and teaching at the university’s eight faculties, or 32 teaching departments. “We have evolved the best quality new varieties of sugarcane, stevia (natural sweetener) potato and citrus,” he said. They had also developed a mineral water brand (Khush Aab). “We have also developed one of the best diagnostic centres. It is at par with the top labs and charges half of the rates for tests,” he said. The vice chancellor said that the UoS was the only self-sufficient public university in Pakistan.
