Balochistan unrest: Two killed, one injured in firing incidents

Gas pipeline blown up in Jafferabad, supply to Uch Power Plant disrupted.

Two men were killed and a woman was injured in a firing incident in the Musa Colony neighbourhood of Quetta on Saturday.


Gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire in Musa Colony, killing a man and injuring a woman. Police cordoned off the area and shifted the casualties to the civil hospital, where the man was identified as Abdul Samad and the woman as Fareeda.

The motives for the murder remain unknown.


A case has been registered and an investigation is under way. In Khuzdar, armed men shot dead a man in the Umer Farooq Chowk area. According to police, a pedestrian, Mohammad Alam, was on his way when gunmen opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. The body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Frontier Corps (FC) defused a bomb weighing three kilogrammes in Khuzdar. According to an FC spokesperson, the bomb was planted in a pickup car and appeared to be homemade.

In Jaffarabad, suspected militants blew up a 24-inch diameter gas pipeline in the Pat Feeder area.

An explosive device was planted underneath the pipeline, which disrupted the gas supply to the Uch Power Plant when it exploded.

Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area. Police registered a case and started an investigation.
