A student of Abbottabad College of Commerce was booked on Saturday for harassing and assaulting his class fellow.
The police booked Bilal under section 354 of the PPC. However, he obtained a pre-arrest bail warrant from the court of Additional District Judge II Abbottabad. He is scheduled to appear before the court on Monday.
The student was booked on the complaint of a student who is pursuing her Diploma of Commerce at Abbottabad College of Commerce. She claimed that Bilal had been harassing her for the last two years, insisting that they become close friends. She said she kept declining his proposals but he became too blatant on September 28 and she scolded him. She said Bilal reacted and started thrashing her in front of her other class fellows and her class teacher, Jehangir. She said when she went to report the issue to the college principal, Bilal followed her into the principal’s office and beat her severely. She claims that Bilal banged her head against the wall due to which she fell unconscious.
The complainant said when she brought the issue to the notice of the college administration, seeking disciplinary action against Bilal, she was expelled from the college. However, the college administration later retracted the decision.
The complainant said Bilal belongs to an influential family and has threatened her of dire consequences if she pursues a case against him.
An official of the college administration told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity that both the students were expelled from the college for “bringing bad name to the institution”. However, the official said the girl student has been allowed to continue her studies at the college.
