Over 100 foreign companies likely to visit carpet show
Hand-knotted carpets will be put up for display at the exhibition.
LAHORE:
Over 100 foreign companies are expected to visit a mega carpet show, being organised by the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), from October 7 to 9 at the Expo Centre Lahore.
“The Carpet Show 2012 will become the largest showcase of Pakistan’s handmade carpets,” declared PCMEA Vice Chairman Saeed Khan in a statement.
Over 50 domestic manufacturers will display their products and a large number of buyers from across the world will come to visit the exhibition. Federal Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin will inaugurate the show.
Organisers say they will focus more on ensuring huge participation of local people, new investors, students and general public in order to update them on the working and achievements of carpet industry, besides highlighting the targets achieved.
Khan said trade fairs provided a significant opportunity for exporters to enhance the image of their brands and products and promote new and existing products. TDAP and PCMEA would jointly facilitate flow of foreign direct investment, establish partnerships, expand market share and develop domestic commerce, he added.
He expressed the hope that the show would not only facilitate entrepreneurs and business owners, but would also highlight soft image of the country.
He stressed that the government should regularly organise such events, which would help accelerate trade and investment and give a boost to the declining tourism industry.
