Cotton maunds : Farmers appeal to fix price at Rs5,000

Kissan Council also expressed concern over losses faced by farmers due to rains.

A number of farmers of Liaquatpur tehsil appealed the authorities to fix the price of cotton at Rs5,000 per maund (37 kilogrammes), saying this step will mitigate their losses during heavy rains.


Meanwhile, office bearers of Kissan Council, Sardargarh, also expressed concern over losses faced by farmers due to rains as standing crops on hundreds of acres was damaged badly. They said that what was left of the precious crop was being purchased at low rates. They have also called for affixing price of cotton at Rs5,000 per maund.
