KARACHI: Three people, including a woman and a child, were injured when a speeding prison van hit a motorcycle in Karachi, Express News reported Wednesday. The prison van was being escorted by two police vehicles on MA Jinnah Road.

Earlier, Express News had misreported that the woman had died on the spot, however, she was only injured among the others.

According to Express News correspondent Shahab Salman, the vehicle hit the motorcycle with such a force that it skidded on the road as far as 200 meters.

Salman quoted eye witnesses as saying that the prison van fled the scene after hitting the motorcycle, however, the two escorting vehicles were stopped by an angered mob which set the vehicles alight.

The mob also tried to harm the police officials, but they took refuge in nearby shops.

MA Jinnah Road usually has a huge overturn of traffic between midday to 3pm.

@DevilHunterX: Article doesn't say she landed or skidded on her head.

I am angered by this. My sincerest wish as a citizen of Pakistan equally subject to such a threat is that our President issue the 'Sternest Warning' to the Police involved, and 'Constitute an Investigative Commission' so that 'those responsible' should get 'exemplary punishment'!
