A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case pertaining to a decade-old petition filed by Air Marshal (retd) Asghar Khan.
In today’s hearing, the Defence ministry maintained in its reply to the court that no political cell was operational within the ISI.
The Chief Justice, responded saying the one submitted in 1997, a year after the petition was filed, had affirmed the existence of a political cell in the agency.
The court then summoned both the defence and interior secretaries to appear before the bench.
Earlier, the chief justice had once again summoned the report on the ISI political cell and had directed the defense and interior secretaries to submit their responses.
