LG issue: Day after law passed, PML-F treads PPP’s forbidden turf
“The party of the martyrs has martyred whole Sindh, said PML-F general secretary Imitiaz Shaikh.
KARACHI:
By the looks of it, Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional have hit the point of no return. Days after parting ways with the coalition government over disagreements on the local government system, the leaders of the Pir Pagara-led PML-F have hit out at the PPP founding leader.
“Earlier it was the PPP founder and martial law administrator, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who divided Pakistan in two countries, now his followers have introduced a dual system to divide urban and rural Sindh,” said the PML- F leaders while addressing a press conference.
This was for the first time that the leaders of Functional league have publically criticised the founding leader of the PPP - something that is bound to not sit well with the ruling party. “Bhutto had shattered the dreams of the Muslims of the subcontinent by dividing Pakistan,” said Imitiaz Shaikh, the PML-F general secretary. “The credit goes to the PPP for dividing Pakistan in 1971 and then splitting Sindh through the recent local government system.”
The new system has taken away all powers of the chief minister and empowered the mayors, he said, but the government is misguiding the people. “The party of the martyrs has martyred whole Sindh.”
“Sindh needs a similar movement like the people had started against the One-Unit system,” pleaded Shaikh, appealing to the writers, poet and intellectuals of Sindh to play their role against the system. “Please stand up and join hands to foil the government nefarious designs.”
Flanked by PML-F, National Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leaders, the former minister added that the parties would create hurdles against the division of Sindh that will be damaging for the entire country.
“The people of Sindh will not let the traitors escape unhurt,” he said.
“Do not feel isolated because you are not being led by Nisar Khuhro, a weak indecisive person, but by Pir Pagara, whose forefathers had sacrificed their lives for the country,” the PML-F leader tried to assure the people of Sindh.
