Visa fraud: LHC orders reversal of investigator’s transfer
During previous hearing, the justice had stopped a new officer from investigating the case and summoned the DG FIA.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Monday told the FIA director general to reverse the transfer of an investigation officer in the Future Concern case, otherwise the court would issue an order for the purpose.
Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi was hearing identical petitions filed against Asim Malik, Future Concern chief executive.
During the previous hearing, the justice had stopped a new officer from investigating the case and summoned the FIA DG.
Addressing the DG on Monday, the justice said the judiciary was accused of meddling in executive matters but, in this case, the executive was intervening in judicial functions.
The DG said he did not know when the investigation officer was transferred.
The court had also summoned the interior secretary and a doctor who issued a medical certificate to Malik on the basis of which he sought exemption from appearance before the court. Both did not turn up. The court again ordered their appearance on the next hearing.
Asim Malik’s counsel submitted that he feared his client’s arrest in an attempted murder case registered in Rawalpindi. He said the case was false and Malik would appear before the court on getting bail.
The court adjourned the hearing till October 4.
The petitioners had submitted that they had given money to Asim Malik for going abroad but he neither sent them abroad nor returned their money. They requested the court to place his name on the exit control list.
