Discontent: PPP workers protest against provincial leadership

Workers union threaten to stand their own candidate, accuse provincial leaders of corruption.

PESHAWAR:
Some Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers have alleged that the party’s provincial leadership is involved in corruption and is ignoring veteran activists.

Protesting outside the Peshawar Press Club on Sunday, Peoples Workers Union Chairman Shoukat Khan Mohmand threatened to forward their own candidate in the next general elections if the party chairman fails to take notice of corrupt provincial leaders.

“Loyal party workers were ignored for government jobs, which were given to people who offered the highest bid for it,” Mohmand said. He alleged that the party is being hijacked by landlords and blackmailers. We do not understand why the central leadership has failed to take notice of the injustices meted out to loyal party workers, the protesters argued.
