Anti-Islam film: ASWJ to hold rally today despite ban
The rally will start from Lasbela and finish outside the US consulate after Zuhr.
KARACHI:
The banned Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat will hold a rally, Tehfuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat (pbuh) and Shuhda-e-Namoos-e-Risalat, on Sunday (today).
The rally will start from Lasbela and finish outside the US consulate after Zuhr and will be led by the group’s Karachi Amir, Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi.
“It will be a peaceful rally, but the government intends to make it violent,” said group’s Karachi spokesperson, Maulana Akbar Saeed. He added that the government should take stern action against target killers instead of banning public processions. “We condemn the notification of banning rallies. We have lost more than 22 workers since September 21 and have remained peaceful,” he said. He said that they announced the rally last Sunday, September 23 and it would not be postponed because of the ban. “Let’s see if the government stops us.”
