Women’s Worldt20: Pakistan lose to Australia

Pakistan Women went down to Australia by 25 runs in a rain-affected Women’s World Twenty20 match in Galle.

Australia’s Jess Cameron scored a quick 42 off 28 balls and shared a 67-run stand with Lisa Sthalekar, as the defending champions posted 146 for five off their quota. Pakistan’s attempts to chase the target went awry when captain Sana Mir was dismissed for a duck in the first over of the reply. Showers then halted the game with Pakistan at 38 for three.

“It is tough to digest this loss,” said Mir. “We don’t have too much international exposure and it is very disappointing to lose in this manner.”
