Pakistani-British man murdered in Rawalpindi: Report
Malik Iqbal was in Pakistan to give evidence against men accused of kidnapping him last year in the country.
A British man of Pakistani origin was murdered in Rawalpindi on Friday as he prepared to give evidence against men accused of kidnapping him, reported the Guardian on Saturday.
According to the report, 55-year-old Malik Iqbal was called to the door of his house in Rawalpindi and was murdered by three masked men. Iqbal had been kidnapped in Pakistan last year, but was freed almost a month later after his family paid a £15,000 ransom.
While in captivity, Iqbal was chained to a bed and blindfolded for 20 days surviving on occasional tea and biscuits, the report mentioned. He had returned to Pakistan to give evidence against the men who kidnapped him.
The report added that Iqbal is survived by a wife and four young daughters at his home in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
