ISLAMABAD:
The Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan General Secretary Abrar Hafeez on Friday said that the right to information (RTI) has been universally recognised as a fundamental human right and efficacy of RTI laws was vital for transparency and good governance.
“An informed citizenry makes better political choices and monitors the performance of public bodies more efficiently,” he said addressing a press conference in connection with the 10th International Right to Know Day at the National Press Club. Hafeez urged that the authorities concerned in provinces must move forward with long awaited RTI legislation and give democracy a breathing space.
