QUETTA:

The Balochistan Bar Association has filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court (SC) to safeguard the Balochistan High Court (BHC) from any crisis.

The petition was filed by President of the Balochistan Bar Association, Baz Muhammad Kakar, in the Quetta Registry of the apex court.

The petitioner said that only five judges are working in the high court, and except Chief Justice Qazi Faez Essa, all others are working on an adhoc basis.

The period of employment of all other four judges will end on September 5.

The petitioner requested that articles 66 to 69 of the 18th Amendment should be suspended and the period of employment of the four judges should be extended.
