Blasphemy case: Lahore judge orders police to act as per law against YouTube
A lawyers' forum submitted application seeking registration of a case against Google, YouTube, PTA chairman.
LAHORE:
An additional district sessions judge on Thursday ordered the SHO of Islampura Police Station to act in accordance with law in an application seeking registration of a case against the perpetrators of the blasphemous movie, the management of Google and YouTube and the chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
Judge Abdul Sattar Langah issued this order in response to a petition moved by Khatam-e-Nabuwwat Lawyers Forum and further directed the police to lodge an FIR if any cognisable offence was commited against the respondents.
The forum - through its president advocate Ghulam Mustafa - contended that it came to know about the anti-Islam movie within the precincts of Islampura police station.
Mustafa stated that the culprits behind the film committed a blasphemy and are liable to be punished under the law.
He further said that the PTA could have blocked access to the movie on social media websites but failed to do so. He submitted that the PTA chairman should also be booked on charges of criminal negligence.
The forum’s president alleged that an application was filed to the Islampura Police Station for registration of a case against the respondents but the police was reluctant to take any action.
