Corruption: NAB moves against OGRA, PR officials
NAB chairman decides to file a reference against Ogra officials accused of misuse of authority.
ISLAMABAD:
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided to file references against former top bosses of the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) and Pakistan Railways, on Wednesday. In a meeting of the executive board, the NAB chairman decided to file a reference against Ogra officials accused of misuse of authority and causing Rs44.57 billion in losses to the national exchequer by violating an agreement with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. In another case concerning Pakistan Railways, NAB decided to file a reference against former secretary Samiul Haq Khilji, general manager operations Saeed Akhtar and six co-accused for embezzlement amounting to Rs 578 million and Rs351 million by awarding a contract of maintenance and procurement of spare parts of 69 Chinese Locomotives to two Chinese firms.
