Fine quality marble: PASDEC to sell 40,000 tons

Ex-chairman APMIA urged stakeholders to avail the opportunity and buy local stone for further processing.

ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) intends to sell over 40,000 tons of finest quality marble blocks extracted from different quarries with state-of-the-art machinery. PASDEC CEO Ihsanullah Khan made these remarks in a briefing session arranged by the All Pakistan Marble Industries Association (APMIA). He said that PASDEC has also received offers from certain foreign buyers, but preference is instead being given to local buyers as they will have have to face adverse competition otherwise. He said PASDEC wishes to help local industry develop to a level where it is able to compete in foreign markets. “Marble industries should organise themselves on modern lines and improve their quality, price and efficiency,” he remarked. Ex-chairman APMIA Saleem Mughal urged stakeholders to avail the opportunity and buy local stone for further processing.
