Non-payment: FBR freezes accounts of PCB
Express News quoted sources as saying that the FBR has recovered Rs18 million.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) seized bank accounts of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to recover withholding tax of Rs30 million, Express News reported Wednesday.
However, Express News quoted sources as saying that the FBR has recovered Rs18 million.
Despite blocking billions of rupees in refunds, the central government has missed the annual tax collection target by a wide margin of Rs80-85 billion, which will widen the gap between income and expenditure.
Against the annual target of Rs1.952 trillion, the FBR collected Rs1.865 trillion by June 30, 2012 showing a gap of Rs87 billion, a senior FBR official had told The Express Tribune.
