What is so wrong with Maula Jutt

Instead of living in our delusion of moral superiority, we should have the courage for introspection.

KARACHI: This is with reference to Salman Masood’s article “What is so wrong with Maula Jutt?” (August 28).

Instead of living in our delusion of moral superiority, we should have the courage for introspection. We are a brutal people, right from the poor classes to the urban, educated middle classes.

If some writers have the courage of pointing out our lack of self-examination, they should be lauded for differing with the sugar-coated assessment of us as a people. We are an intolerant, bigoted and extremely self-righteous and as long as we continue to live in denial, we won’t even begin to get out of the mess we are in.
