Foreign aid : Punjab assured Rs221.1m for prosecution reform
US, Australian governments offered expert assistance with training, investigation and prosecution activities.

The European Union (EU) has agreed to provide Rs221.1 million (€1.8 million) to the provincial government under a Counter-Terrorism Associated Prosecutorial Reform Initiative (CAPRI) programme, The Express Tribune has learnt. A letter sent to the Interior Ministry by the British High Commission in Pakistan states that the United States and the Australian governments have offered expert assistance with training, investigation and prosecution activities.
This will be possible after 2013, it says. These decisions were finalised in a stakeholder’s engagement workshop under the CAPRI programme held in Islamabad on September 10.
British High Commission’s First Secretary John Derrick; FIA Additional Director Khalid Qureshi; United Kingdom’s prison scoping team’s members Phil Wheatley and Steven Pearson; Lisa Whanstall of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Patrick Stevens of the Crown Prosecution Service attended the meeting.
