Sikandar Sanam diagnosed with liver cancer
The theatre artist is seriously ill and was admitted at AKUH.

Comedian Sikandar Sanam, the theatre artist who redefined the art of mimicry on stage, has been diagnosed with liver cancer. The actor was admitted to Aga Khan University Hospital a few days ago and was discharged last evening.
Furqan Haider, the current owner of City Auditorium and the man who claims to have introduced Sanam to the world of theatre says, “I remember his outstanding performance with Moin Akhtar in a stage performance called ‘Babiya Moin Akhtar’ like it happened yesterday. Today, the great artist is gravely ill and was in Aga Khan Hospital till last night.”
According to Haider, “some newspapers have misreported his condition. He has been diagnosed with liver cancer and not lung cancer as has been assumed by most of the press personnel.” Haider further added, “The disease was diagnosed about a month back, but he was feeling weak even before his diagnosis.”
He also informed The Express Tribune that ARY Digital is trying to arrange for him to be treated at one of the best hospitals in Mumbai, which is known for curing a large number of patients suffering from cancer. “If all goes well, he will make the journey soon and get treated in India.” Moreover, Haider said that Sanam’s treatment cost is being looked after by former Sindh minister for Industries and Commerce Rauf Siddiqui for now.
The Express Tribune tried contacting Sanam but his son Zubair Sikandar answered and refused to let his ailing father talk to the media. Zubair however requested, “We hope his fans throughout the world say a prayer for our father’s well-being. We hope that these prayers get answered.”
