Petition disposed: Provinces tell SC, organ transplant laws framed

Ordinance on illegal trade of human organs has been issued.

All the provincial governments informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that they have promulgated the laws related to the illegal transplantation of human organs and tissues.



A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard a petition regarding the illegal transplant of human organs, filed by Asma Jehangir and others.

During the hearing Health Deputy Secretary Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Babar Khan,  informed the court that the ordinance on illegal trade of human organs has been issued and they have also framed laws, which would be notified soon.

The advocate generals of all the four provinces and officials appearing on behalf of the Islamabad Capital Territory informed the SC about the promulgation of the legislation. The court disposed of the petitions.
