Lower dir: Two policemen injured in blast

The SP said the IED might have been planted by some people who wanted to sabotage peace.

TIMERGARA: Two police personnel were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near their van in Shagai, Lal Qila tehsil of Lower Dir, on Tuesday. The IED exploded around 4pm when the police was on a routine patrol. The blast completely destroyed the vehicle. SP Ijaz Abid told The Express Tribune that both sub-inspector Mehtab Khan and driver Iftikhar were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, adding that Khan was critically injured. The SP further said that a search operation had been launched in the area. However, no arrests were made until this report was filed. The SP said the IED might have been planted by some people who wanted to sabotage peace, claiming that the area had been cleared off militants.
