Private schools ordered to go online

As part of its comprehensive reform agenda, the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) has embarked on a major upgrade of its IT infrastructure to enhance efficiency, reliability, transparency and service delivery for private educational institutions operating in the federal capital.

In a significant step towards digital governance and improved ease of doing business in the private education sector, ICT-PEIRA has successfully introduced a fully paperless system for registration and renewal, according to a press release issued on Saturday.

Under the new arrangement, effective from February 10, 2026, all private educational institutions in the Islamabad Capital Territory will be required to submit applications for registration and renewal exclusively through the online portal. The submission of hard-copy applications will be discontinued.

The move is expected to streamline administrative procedures, reduce processing times, minimise paperwork, enhance transparency and strengthen institutional compliance with regulatory standards.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, Acting Chairman of ICT-PEIRA, said: "Our vision is to transform ICT-PEIRA into a fully paperless and digitally driven organisation.

In the first phase, the entire registration and renewal process has been shifted online. In the next phase, compliance monitoring and regulatory processes will also be conducted through the digital portal, ensuring greater transparency, efficiency and accountability."
