Unionist attacked: FIR registered against police officer

Officers were accused of attacking house of Karachi Dock Labour Board and Port Qasim Workers Union president.

KARACHI: On Sunday, the authorities registered an FIR against police officer Idrees Bangash and others for attacking the house of the president of Karachi Dock Labour Board and Port Qasim Workers Union. According to the FIR which was registered at the Jackson police, 11 men, including Bangash, opened fire at Gul Muhammad Afridi’s house on Tara Chand Road, Keamari on Saturday. In protest, the board’s members staged a protest and blocked the Native Jetty Bridge and chanted slogans against the police officer. Labour union leaders condemned the attack on Afridi’s house and have asked the police to arrest the suspects. The chairperson of the Port Qasim Dock Workers Social Development Forum, Gul Mohammad Mammoond, said that the police was supposed to protect the citizens.
