Big B’s golden touch

The actor’s TV show “Kaun Banega Crorepati 6” gets record-breaking opening.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s golden touch and powerful campaign has helped the TV show “Kaun Banega Crorepati 6” (KBC) in registering a 6.1 television rating (TVR) in the opening episode, reports IANS.

The show, which went on air on September 7, 2012, is said to have had the highest opening this year across all shows broadcasting on all general entertainment channels, says Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice president and business head, SET.

The Hindustan Times reveals that in a question related to the record-breaking TRP which neither actors Aamir Khan nor Salman Khan could beat, Bachchan said, “I never look at it that way. Whether it’s Shahrukh, Salman or Aamir, they have done exceedingly well in their careers. I don’t look at TRPs, I simply do what I’m asked to do and hope that people like it.”

In this season, Big B is most excited about having more women contestants, as he hopes that prejudices against the female child are wiped out. “Many parts of our country, even today, aren’t conducive to the female child, which is really sad. It should be stopped,” says the 69-year-old actor.

Speaking about what connects him to the audience and makes the show such a big hit, he said that it is the format of the show that works. He further added, “‘KBC’ is not just a show but a medium to give people that one opportunity. I get very emotional and feel for the contestants when I hear stories of their suffering and struggle.”

There have been reports that Big B has signed two more seasons, to which Big B admitted that there have been some discussions going on but it would be better to ask Sony (channel) about it.
