Bus routes to be reorganised to ‘feed’ Metro Bus Service

Some bus routes will be altered to facilitate commuters wanting to reach metro bus service stations. Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan, the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) chairman, said on Sunday. 


Addressing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review the performance of the LTC, Hassaan said the company will develop feeder routes for the service.

The meeting was attended by LTC officials, including Vice Chairman Mehar Ishtiaq, Acting CEO Amjad Hussain, General Manager (Finance) Mariam Khawar, Deputy General Manager (Operations) Tanveer Siddiqi, Manager (Operations and Planning) Huma Daha, Senior Manager (Finance) Zafar Ahmad Qureshi and Manager (Operations) Faisal Nisar.


Hassaan said as many 30 new bus routes had been started by the company. He said the LTC was implementing a comprehensive plan to provide efficient transport facilities to the suburbs.

He said buses were now operating from Allama Iqbal International Airport to Valencia.

He said a bus service from Bahria Town to Shaukat Khanum Hospital as well as one from Green Town to the General Bus Stand and one from City Railway Station to Thokar Niaz Baig was also planned.

He said the LTC was providing green cards to students in collaboration with the educational institutions. He said senior citizens and special persons will be issued free transport cards.

Hassaan said the LTC had implemented the chief minister’s orders to clean up the buses and bus stands and spray them with insecticide.
