Committee formed to stop forced conversion of minorities in Sindh

Committees can refer forced conversion cases to police stations to register FIRs, oversee minorities extortion cases.

KARACHI:
The Sindh government has constituted a committee under the supervision of deputy commissioners of Sindh to stop the forced conversion of minorities.

According to a notification issued by the services and general administration department, the committees have been given the mandate to refer enforced conversion cases of minorities to police stations in order to register FIRs against the culprits.


The committee, which would also look after issues of extortion against Hindus in the province, comprises of four representatives of minorities and an assistant director of minority affairs.

The notification also said that representatives of these committees would also review the five per cent job quota of minorites in government departments.
