Factory fires: Owners, govt officials share blame
"The labour laws should be enforced," says PML-N president Nawaz Sharif

Both factory owners and government officials share responsibility for the two factory fires in Lahore and Karachi on Tuesday, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday. He also said the Karachi tragedy was one of the worst industrial accidents in history. Sharif visited the shoe factory at Bund Road where 24 people were killed. He said the labour laws should be enforced. He blamed the Karachi fire on Sindh government officials. He said while Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had announced compensation for workers killed in the shoe factory fire, philanthropists should also support the bereaved families. He said he would visit the factory in Karachi on Friday (today).
