Visa consultancy firm: Contempt notice issued

Justice Naqvi observed that the respondent was guilty of contempt of court in not appearing despite many notices.

LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued contempt of court notices to the chief executive of a visa consultancy firm and directed the DIG (operations) to arrest and produce him before the court on September 17. Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued the order while hearing several petitions accusing Future Concern CEO Asim Malik of defrauding his clients. The petitioners alleged they had given money to the company but neither were they sent abroad nor was the money returned. The court had summoned Asim Malik for Thursday, but his counsel said his client had been threatened and should be exempt from personal appearance. Justice Naqvi turned down the request and observed that the respondent was guilty of contempt of court in not appearing despite many notices.
