KARACHI:
At 9:42am Thursday morning the great comedian Safeerullah Siddiqui ‘Lehri’ breathed his last at Liaquat National Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) ward.
About a while back his condition had deteriorated and subsequently the family, while in discussion with the doctors, had decided to remove the ventilator.
He had been suffering from breathing problems for some time now and had been in the hospital since one month.
Earlier, the doctor on duty had said that they could keep a patient on the ventilator for a maximum of 14 days.
Lehri was 83 years old.
The bubbly comedian was the very embodiment of vivacity back in the 70s.
Lehri's film career, however, started in 1956 with his first film Anokhi. His last film was Dhanak in 1986.
He was also the winner of the Nigar Award for multiple films.
