Bata shoes: PM urges low-cost products for all

Prime Minister Ashraf suggested that Bata utilise the ample labour force in Pakistan.

TIANJIN:
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday invited leading international shoe company Bata to introduce low-cost products in Pakistan, in order to meet the demands of the poorest segments. He was talking to Jorge Carbajal, President of Bata Emerging Markets, who had called on the premier on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of New Champions. Prime Minister Ashraf appreciated Bata’s success story all over the world, and particularly in Pakistan, where Bata has been a household name for decades. He also urged for the provision of affordable products for lower income segments of the society. He suggested that Bata utilise the ample labour force in Pakistan, which he said could contribute positively to the company’s business endeavours.
