Joining hands: JUI-F supports Sept 13 strike
The strike would be peaceful, Dr Khalid Soomro added.
KARACHI:
The Sindh chapter of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) has announced its support for a strike on September 13 called by Sindh nationalist groups to protest the new local government ordinance.
Dr Khalid Soomro, the Sindh secretary general of the Maulana Fazlur Rehman-led Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), announced that the party supported the strike. In a statement issued by the JUI-F, Soomro accused the Pakistan Peoples Party of using the “Sindh card” to gain and consolidate power in the province, but when it is in government it makes plans that are against Sindh.
According to Soomro, protests were ongoing against the Zulfikarabad project. He accused the Pakistan Peoples Party for betraying Sindh by developing “two different systems for rural and urban Sindh”. The strike would be peaceful, he added.
