LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court chief justice on Tuesday ordered the registrar’s office to combine various petitions a petitioner has filed, against Federal Tax Ombudsman Shoaib Suddle, before different courts into one and then set a date of hearing.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial issued the order after Suddle’s counsel pointed out that the petitioner, Additional Commissioner (Inland Revenue) Faisalabad Muhammad Saleem, had moved seven petitions before various courts against his client. Suddle’s counsel called this “illegal and unconstitutional”. The CJ reprimanded the petitioner and asked why he had filed the same application before different courts. The petitioner then requested the court to allow him to withdraw the application from the CJ’s court but Justice Bandial denied his request. He ordered that all petitions be consolidated and then placed before his court.
