Water Wars: Police to help KWSB deal with illegal hydrants
The decision was made as KWSB MD Misbahuddin Farid met Sindh IG Fayyaz Laghari.
KARACHI:
Police will now help the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to deal with the illegal water trade and SHOs will now be responsible for dealing with the activity in their jurisdictions.
The decision was made as KWSB MD Misbahuddin Farid met Sindh IG Fayyaz Laghari. Farid presented evidence against illegal hydrants and the “water mafia”, including copies of 222 FIRs that were lodged against the culprits. SSP Special Unit Faroof Awan has been tasked with cooperating with the KWSB. KWSB had alleged that police were involved in the illegal sale of water through hydrants. Farid said that the hydrants could not run without the tacit approval of area SHOs.
