Job security: K-P doctors to go on strike if demands not met
Doctors will go on strike if the government does not regularise all ad hoc doctors in the province.

The Provincial Doctors’ Association (PDA) said on Monday that they will go on strike if the government does not regularise all ad hoc doctors in the province.
Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, PDA Senior Vice President Dr Munir Mehsud said that around 493 ad hoc doctors had been working in the province for years without any proper facilities, which puts their future in dark.
“The government gives extension in their service period, which is not acceptable because it is an injustice to their profession and all doctors should be regularised immediately,” Dr Mehsud said.
He also demanded that provincial health department formulate a service structure for all medical fraternity members working on various posts in the province so that they do not leave the country for the sake of job security.
Dr Mehsud claimed that due to the absence of a service structure, many doctors appointed in BPS-17 retired in the same grade after serving for thirty years, while there were proper rules for promotion in other government departments.
