Food is something CDA seems unwilling to give up on. After failing to initiate a food park project in the lap of Margalla Hills due to opposition by environmentalists, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) believes G-7 is the place where magic will happen for them.
CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal on Sunday said they will refurbish the civic facilities in G-7 and construct a “state-of-the-art food court” there to bring it on par with other areas of the city. He was visiting different areas of G-7, said a press release.
Islamabad already has two food courts, one in Blue Area that failed to gain traction and the Melody Food Park, which too, lost most of its customers over time.
Iqbal did not stop at announcing plans for a new food court, however. He said they will “revamp” the existing civic amenities in the sector, such as repairing footpaths, provision of potable water, repair of roads and regular cleaning services. He also directed his subordinates to have the stormwater drain flowing through the sector upgraded.
