LAHORE:
A massive awareness walk was held on Gulberg’s Main Boulevard on Sunday on the occasion of dengue larvae eradication day on directions of the Punjab government.

Town officials were asked to ensure timely removal of rain water from the city. Workers of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and Albayrak cleaned the route for the walk from Liberty Round-about to Gulberg’s Main Market. The LWMC had deployed 50 sanitary workers on the route to keep the venue clean. Workers were also deputed with roadside vendors.

He claimed that the walk was the ‘biggest in the history of Lahore’. He praised Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Sports Board Chairman Hamza Shahbaz for their efforts.

LWMC’s social mobilisers and communication team distributed stickers and pamphlets carrying messages and information about dengue larvae among the participants. An animated film on cleanliness was screened for children participating in the walk.

Later, LWMC floats roamed about in various areas of the city where volunteers used loudspeakers to convey messages asking passers-by to keep Lahore clean. They also distributed literature among the people.
