TORONTO: Watch out Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Miley Cyrus. Selena Gomez stepped up as the next Disney girl gone wild — at least on screen — in the sociopathic movie Spring Breakers.
Selena noted the film is R-rated; meaning anyone under age 17 cannot attend without supervision, so “this movie is not for my young fans.”
At the same time, the 20-year-old defended her choice to star in the deliberately trashy film, which includes pornographically-shot nudity and lesbian frolicking, as her first foray into grown-up film-making. “This role is not necessarily breaking out of anything. It’s just me doing something that I really want to do. I’m super passionate about the acting part of what I do, and I just want to do stuff for me sometimes,” she told reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the movie debuted on Friday. The one-time Disney darling acknowledged that it was a big risk because “I do have a younger generation of fans that support me and mean a lot to me. Everything I do is for my fans.”
Selena is best known for her role in the Emmy Award-winning television series “Wizards of Waverly Place” and in the tabloids for dating pop icon Justin Bieber.
On her social networking site, Selena urged young adults to see Spring Breakers, because, as she said at the Toronto International Film Festival, “it is very real, it’s not sugar-coated.” The plot revolves around four hedonistic girls — played by Selena, fellow Disney alumna Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine, the director’s wife — who go to Florida for their spring break university holiday. But they get arrested and are bailed out by James Franco’s creepy gold-toothed gangster character, Alien.

You poor thing you must be very young. No Selena has NOT gone wild and she doesn't think or acts like she's better than everyone not everything. Give it few more years and as you get older you'll get the picture as to who she really is.

Selena is sooo sexy and sweet and she would never change as a person just bcuz she's doing roles that maybe her fans aren't used to it doesn't necessarily mean she's changed and somehow morphed into the new "bad girl"......I support Selena..I'm only 13 and I can't c the movie but I still support her with everything she does and I'm excited for her bcuz she is an AMAZING ACTRESS so GOOD LUCK SELENA ILY <3
I think that selena should do whatever she feels is right for her, it's her life and she can anything she wants with it but I hope that she does make movies for a younger audience like myself... TEAM SELENA ALL THE WAY
I don't think that she has 'Gone wild' Selena is really classy. She is just acting, playing a role.But if its very believable that shes gone bad then she is a good actress.
