Weather update: Rain till Sunday
Scattered rains or thundershowers may still lash lower Sindh on Sunday.
KARACHI:
The monsoon system pounding Karachi and parts of Sindh over the past couple of days may be abating, but scattered rains or thundershowers may still lash lower Sindh on Sunday.
On Friday morning, the city experienced heavy rainfall between 8am and 10am, which, according to the meteorological department’s airport observatory, added another 2 millimetres of rain to the city’s monsoon season, but the rest of the day remained mostly dry. The airport observatory has recorded 80mm of rainfall over the past three days and expects the system to last on Sunday.
The low pressure system triggering the monsoon rains has entered Rajasthan in India and its adjoining areas and is likely to move north-westwards over the next 24 hours, entering south-eastern Punjab and upper Sindh areas. The system is expected to cause widespread thundershowers all over upper Sindh on Saturday and Sunday. Heavy rains may cause flooding in Larkana and Sukkur districts.
