Pakistani craftworks to be on display at expo

China-Korea Trade Expo will be held from October 12-16.

BEIJING:

The 2012 China-Democratic People’s Republic of Korea  (DPRK) Economic, Trade, Culture and Tourism Expo, which will be staged from October 12 to 16 in Dandong, Liaoning province of China, has attracted exhibitors from Pakistan, according to the Nandong Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The Shamsi Import and Export Group – one of Pakistan’s exhibitors – booked six stands and will send a 20-member delegation to participate in the event, displaying various exotic craftworks, according to a media report by China Daily.

The general manager of the Shamsi Group learnt about the China-DPRK Expo in mid-June in Nanjing and showed great interest at that time. He contacted the organisers for further information about the expo and decided to book six stands to showcase Pakistan’s traditional craftworks, including brassware, agate, wooden furniture and leather craft, the newspaper reported. The brass craftworks are Pakistan’s national treasure and are considered West Asia’s greatest gift to the world.

The organisers offered services to facilitate the Pakistani exhibitor’s attendance, including application for acquiring business visa and import customs services.

The Pakistani-style craftworks designed and produced by the group have been sold in over 50 countries and regions around the world.
